Spiritual Social Action Ministry
The mission of the Spiritual Social Action Ministry is to empower the community and ourselves through God's loving Spirit and sharing our good.
The Action Team currently has 4 annual projects each year.
- We have Packin the Pantries every month as an ongoing mission. We have a food "basket" where donations are placed at the church and taken by "delivery angels" to 3 different food pantries our area. Each month we have various non-perishable items suggested for donation. We strongly encourage "givers" to opt for cash donations because the great food pantry can more than double the value of a donation through bulk purchases.
- For three weeks in January we will be doing a "Soles for Souls" with the association of Unity Churches in a project called "Soles 4 Unity". This new endeavor is very exciting in that it allows us to give "Soles (shoes) to Souls (individuals, especially children) who do not have any shoes and often get diseases and infections because they have to go barefoot.
How is this done?......
By your sponsoring shoes with monetary donations, and not only will we make a change in those lives, but part of the proceeds are returned to our Church to further our vision. Look for a table in the entry before and after the service from January 7-24 to do your part!
- Pack-a-back-pack is a project we do before school starts to help children with some of the necessities for school they are unable to afford. We will start this late in July.
- In early December, Spiritual Action Ministry sponsors the Adopt-Family gift tag program that enable Children and families less well off to have at least one gift for Christmas. This is a popular and rewarding project.
We welcome help with any of these four Action projects. Little time is needed to bring great benefits to yourself and others through giving!
In grateful service,
Bonnie Latimer
